Andersen Secondary School

Mount Elgon Trust (MET) continues to foster high-quality education, and Andersen High School (AHS) plays a central role in this vision. Established in 2008 by the Andersen family, AHS offers secondary education to students from both within Trans-Nzoia County and neighbouring regions. AHS, like all MET schools, is jointly run by MET, its primary sponsor Mount Elgon Orchards, the Kenya National Government, and the County Government of Trans-Nzoia.

Initially operating under the old 8-4-4 system, AHS will soon transition to Grade 10 to Grade 12 under the new Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The school caters to boys and girls in separate sections, addressing the unique learning needs of both groups. With a total student population of 1,843 and 64 teachers, AHS has steadily grown, particularly after expanding its boarding facilities. The new boys' and girls' dormitories doubled the boarding capacity from 480 to 960 students, with about 70% of students coming from Trans-Nzoia County and 30% from neighbouring counties.

Between 2019 and 2023, AHS saw a remarkable 76% increase in its student population, reflecting the growing demand for its academic and co-curricular offerings. The school also excels in sports, with students competing at regional, East African, and international levels. In 2023 and 2024, AHS top athletes won gold medals in South America and France, demonstrating the school's holistic approach to education. At AHS, we not only focus on academics, but also on nurturing individual talents and discipline among students.
