Girl Empowerment Program (GEP)

Our Girl Empowerment Program supports and uplifts young girls and single (teenage) mothers in the community, providing education, mentorship, and resources to help them gain confidence, develop life skills, and achieve economic independence. The program focuses on raising awareness on a wide range of topics, delivered through community engagement, mentorship, and practical initiatives.

Mentorship programs

We run mentorship sessions in schools and communities. In six schools, teachers and our team guide groups of up to 80 girls aged 11 to 16. Sessions cover study skills, life skills, mental health, leadership, and menstrual hygiene. During school holidays, outreach sessions bring up to 450 girls together in community spaces such as churches. Each participant receives hygiene kits (soap and sanitary pads) and a tree seedling. Topics discussed include personal development, academic excellence, menstrual hygiene, and emotional wellbeing.

Young Mother Groups

We organise young single mothers into support groups across nine regions. Our social workers and nurses from AMC meet with these groups to provide guidance, run awareness campaigns on positive parenting, and offer project management support. These sessions help mothers gain knowledge, confidence, and independence through small-scale business opportunities.

Scholarships

Through the program, 25 young women have been awarded scholarships to study at Andersen Vocational Training Centre. These opportunities allow them to develop skills that enhance their future economic and personal independence.

Observance and awareness days

Our team engages the broader community through preventive healthcare and awareness campaigns. These focus on key topics such as menstruation, family planning, and women’s rights, ensuring that knowledge reaches girls and young mothers beyond the immediate mentorship sessions.
